Arsenal have snubbed the opportunity to sign Philippe Coutinho in favour of bringing Willian to the Emirates.

Kia Joorabchian represents both Willian and Coutinho and has offered their services to the Gunners.

However, the club cannot afford to sign both players at this present moment.

And the Mirror says Mikel Arteta favours recruiting Willian from Chelsea, despite him being older than Coutinho.

Barcelona would seek a loan fee for Coutinho and expect Arsenal to cover his exorbitant wages, while Willian can sign on a free transfer from Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners have reportedly offered the 31-year-old a three-year deal to make the switch to north London.
