A picture of Karim Benzema on a private jet has sent Arsenal fans wild as fans convince themselves it is evidence he could be moving to the Emirates, reports the London Evening Standard.

Benzema posting an image of himself leaving the Madrid pre-season tour in a private plane have only served to fan those rumours.

He captioned the post "let the past remain in the past" with the hashtags RIP and directionturfu, a Verlan phrase that means "next stop: the future".

The 27-year-old was left on the bench for Madrid's 3-0 friendly victory over Inter but new manager Rafael Benitez last week insisted he was "sure" Benzema would stay in Spain.

The photo alone has been enough to send Arsenal fans into meltdown on social media, with many using the hashtag #WelcomeBenzema
