Arsenal failed with a summer bid for Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani, it has been revealed.

Corriere dello Sport says both the Gunners and Valencia had £10 million offers for Aquilani turned down.

The young midfielder said: "I'm happy here because I am playing regularly. I know I need to improve a lot and this is the best way to do so."
