Arsenal face a massive battle to keep hold of chief scout Steve Rowley.
The Mail on Sunday says for Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, the recruitment of Rowley is also still on the agenda, with Arsene Wenger's right-hand man considering an offer to join Chelsea.
Abramovich is keen to revitalise all aspects of Chelsea's football operations after the departures of manager Ancelotti and sporting director Frank Arnesen, which is why Rowley has been approached to become international scout.
The role would outstrip the responsibilities he has at Arsenal.
His departure would be a serious blow for Wenger, with Rowley behind the recruitment of virtually all the talented and, at the time, unknown young players Arsenal have signed, such as Cesc Fabregas, Alex Song, Gael Clichy and Abou Diaby.
