Arsenal eager to seal Xhaka deal before Euro2016

Arsenal are hoping they can secure the services of Granit Xhaka prior to this summer's European Championships.

The Daily Mirror is of the belief that the Gunners are confident of soon wrapping up a £33.8million deal for the Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder.

Arsenal have been in hot pursuit of the 23-year-old and it is understood that they have agreed a fee with Gladbach with the view to completing the transfer prior to his duties with Switzerland at Euro2016.

Xhaka himself indicated that things would be drawn to a close, one way or the other, prior to the tournament.

"The season's over now and there might be discussions tomorrow regarding the matter, we will make it together," he said.

"The decision will definitely be before the European Championship.

"I'm the wrong person to be asked [about a possible move], you might need to check that with [sporting director] Max Eberl."
