Arsenal defender William Saliba was disappointed to miss out on a move back to Saint-Etienne.
The young French centre-back wanted to go back to the club on loan for this season.
But the 19-year-old was not given the chance, despite not making a match-day squad for Mikel Arteta's team so far this season.
According to French outlet But!, Arsenal turned down a loan deal by introducing last minute demands St. Etienne could not meet.
They wanted the player back at Arsenal's training complex several times during the loan spell for medical examinations.
A compensation clause was also discussed, and the deal eventually fell apart.
