Saliba signed for the Gunners last summer before being loaned back to St Etienne for the past season.
He told L'Equipe: “I have always had football in me. No matter how many people told me that I had very little chance of going pro, I never had a plan B or plan C. I stayed focused on my dream. Either we go for it or we fail.
"Now that I have made my dream of becoming a professional come true, I want to do things like Raphaël Varane, the best French defender: continue to break through levels, play for the French team and win all possible titles.
"It is for this reason that I am so disappointed not to be able to play this final. Instead I hope to attend a match with a crazy scenario and a 2-1 victory for Saint-Étienne."
