Arsenal defender Pleguezuelo inspired by Real Madrid captain Ramos

Arsenal defender Julio Pleguezuelo admits he draws inspiration from Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos.

Pleguezuelo is still coming to terms with finally making his senior debut for the Gunners in the Carabao Cup win over Blackpool.

Speaking in Arsenal's matchday programme, he said: "Sergio Ramos isn't the biggest either, but he wins every header and sometimes it's all about timing and technique.

"You have to jump at the right moment, so there are a lot of factors in the game.

"Obviously one of my strengths is my speed and I can run when they play long balls, so I try to play to my strengths as much as I can while strengthening my weaknesses at the same time.

"Now that Sokratis has joined the club, he's not one of the tallest centre-backs either, but he's still very, very good.

"Koscielny, Mustafi and Sokratis are all centre-backs to look up to and obviously because of their height, it's very good to look up to them and learn.

"It proves you can still play in the Premier League without being the tallest centre-back."
