Arsenal clash with Brentford was just HOURS from being called off

Arsenal's Premier League opener against Brentford was only hours away from being cancelled.

The Gunners entire travelling party were forced to take COVID tests just hours before kick-off, per the Daily Mail, after three players went down with illness.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and reserve goalkeeper Alex Runarsson were unavailable for the trip.

It remains to be seen whether Aubameyang and Lacazette can recover for Arsenal's clash at home to Chelsea on Sunday.

Both players have been linked with a move to Barcelona this week.

The Blaugrana have reportedly offered Philippe Coutinho for either of the two Arsenal forwards.
