Arsenal chiefs happy to continue backing Arteta in market

Arsenal will continue to back Mikel Arteta in the transfer window, reports have claimed.

The Gunners spent big last summer in a bid to overhaul their current squad.

Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Martin Odegaard, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Nuno Tavares were brought in for a total of around £140m.

Arteta also gave the all-clear to move on Willian, Alex Runarsson, Hector Bellerin, Lucas Torreira, Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock.

But the north London club aren't stopping there, according to The Athletic.

The Kroenke's and technical director Edu want to target 'one or two major signings' per transfer window, including this upcoming January.

The club believe they can 'take advantage of a distressed market' to make astute acquisitions.
