Arsenal chief Venkatesham leaves door open to Wenger return

Arsenal chief Vinai Venkatesham says the door is open to a future role within the club for Arsene Wenger.

Wenger is currently weighing up his next move after leaving at the end of last season.

Venkatesham said, "He is of course always going to be always associated with the club.

"Quite what form that might take in time we have not got to that. I think the appropriate thing to do is to give the change some space which is what we are doing.

"But the love affair with Arsenal and Arsene lives on. I saw him about a month ago. He is great shape and great form.

"And that relationship with Arsenal and Arsene does not disappear – that is just not what happens after what he did for this club.

"If the question is what exactly will the relationship be like going forward. I am not exactly sure what it will mean.

"It might just mean what it is today that he is one of our greatest ever managers and he is welcome back whenever he wants to be here."
