Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick ponders resignation after Southampton draw

Arsenal chairman Sir Chips Keswick is weighing up his position in the wake of yesterday's 2-2 draw with Southampton.

The Athletic claims the 79-year-old, who became chairman of the north London outfit in 2013, is believed to have struggled to come to terms with the anger directed at Arsenal's board by supporters.

Sir Keswick also feels he has been cut out of the decision-making process at the club, and is reluctant to take the blame for Arsenal's woes throughout under-fire boss Unai Emery's reign.

The Gunners are languishing in seventh after dropping more points against their south coast opponents, and are currently eight points adrift of the Champions League spots with pressure rapidly mounting on Emery.

Large sections of supporters present at the Emirates on Saturday had been vocal in their displeasure with the club's current predicament, with 'we want Emery out' chants clearly audible in stoppage time.

And Sir Keswick now feels unable to influence the direction of the club.
