Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has hailed the impact of Leonid Slutsky on his career.
Odegaard worked with Slutsky when on-loan at Vitesse Arnhem from Rea Madrid.
Speaking to the Players' Tribune, Odegaard said of the Russian coach: “Honestly, it was a fantastic experience for me.
"I had to play regularly at the level of the first team, that's what I needed. I owe a lot to Heerenveen, where I got better as a person, and to Vitesse, where I grew as a player.
"At Heerenveen I got my driver's license, learned to be independent and take responsibility. Then at Vitesse I met the head coach Leonid Slutsky. He was amazing. He believed in my abilities, not demanding miracles from me. He helped me improve my game understanding and teamwork."
