Arsenal captain Aubameyang apologises after shocking miss against Benfica

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has apologized to fans and his teammates for missing a good chance against Benfica in the Europa League.

The Gunners played out a 1-1 draw away from home in the first leg of their round of 32 knockout clash.

Gabon striker Aubameyang had an excellent chance to give his team a first half lead, but hit his shot wide from roughly six yards out.

"We deserved better and I should score couple goals today but still one game to go, we keep going," Aubameyang wrote on Twitter.

Asked about Aubameyang's chances, Arteta added: "Well, these things happen.

"He was at the end of the biggest chances that we had tonight.

"He was unlucky not to score two or three tonight because in normal circumstances that would be the case."
