Arsenal are closing in on Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.

The Sun says the Gunners have moved into pole position, with bidding rivals Liverpool switching their sights to Schalke's Greek defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos.

And Wenger is expected to open the bidding at around £8million for Williams, even though the Swans are holding out for closer to £12m.

Williams is said to be keen on a move to Arsenal and a deal is likely to be agreed.
