Arsenal boss worried as Welbeck cops knee injury at Man City

Arsenal's Arsene Wenger admits he is concerned about the injury sustained by Danny Welbeck on Sunday.

The striker hurt his knee when attempting to tackle Bacary Sagna in the first half of the Gunners' 2-2 draw with Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and Wenger fears it could be serious.

"The medic told me it looks like a meniscus (injury). I hope they are wrong," the Frenchman told Sky Sports.

"Danny looked down and he knows. I tried to keep him on the pitch, I tried to get him on again and straight away he moved out. He's not a guy who likes to move out so I am a bit worried."

When asked if it would keep Welbeck out of the England squad for Euro2016, Wenger replied: "I don't want to say that, that's too hard. Let's be a bit more optimistic and wait for the scan tomorrow."
