Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed his bid for Sevilla defender Sebastien Squillaci.
However, Wenger concedes a deal is some way from being completed.
"We need one more body at least and he is one of the candidates but nothing is done at all so it is very premature to speak about him joining us" said the manager, who had an initial £5m bid rejected for the 30-year-old.
"How far down the road we are with it depends on how long the road is. But at the moment it would be very premature to say Squillaci is joining us."
