Arsenal boss Emery: We can announce ourselves at Liverpool

Arsenal boss Unai Emery admits they can lay down a marker on Saturday at Liverpool.

Liverpool's American owners never once wavered in their support for their new manager, allowing him to impose his style, methods and players to re-energise the faltering giants.

And Emery, 47, is adamant that he will require similar patience and financial backing if he is to get Arsenal back to competing for the game's top trophies.

Emery declared on the eve of this evening's top-of-the table clash at Anfield: “Liverpool are a very good example for us.

"I have watched from outside how they have improved each year in the Premier League — and now they have a very strong style and mentality.

“They are adding titles and I really appreciate their work a lot. Their performances have been amazing and their quality also.

“I want to work in a similar way, to create our own mentality and to get stronger little by little. At the moment they have quite a big advantage on us. The gap between Manchester City and Liverpool to Arsenal continues to be wide.

“But this match is an amazing opportunity for us to do something important, to announce to everyone that, 'We are here'."
