Arsenal boss Unai Emery has recalled how he managed to convince Kylian Mbappe to join PSG.

When coach of PSG, it was Emery's personal intervention which convinced Mbappe as he was leaving AS Monaco.

Emery told Cadena SER: "Mbappé wanted to go to Real Madrid. I spoke with his father to choose PSG. At first he wanted to go to Real Madrid, he even had the option of Barcelona. He'd go there with his eyes closed, but we convinced him that the Parisian project was a French project.

"We managed to make him stay in France but it was necessary to put the financial means and that's what the PSG did."
