Arsenal boss Emery: Fatigue no excuse for Rennes challenge

Arsenal boss Unai Emery insists fatigue won't be a factor for their Europa League clash with Rennes.

Emery insists the Gunners have enough fresh players to cope against Rennes in the Europa League's last 16.

He said at Wednesday's press conference: “It's not an excuse for us. We have the habit of playing a lot of matches week by week. We played Saturday, rested Sunday, worked Monday and tomorrow we will be OK for everyone to play.

“My opinion is to respect the Premier League. They decide the schedule for our matches and we prepare in the days we have free. Above all, the habit is to play a lot of matches – but it's not an excuse.

“If you are asking me whether I prefer to have more time, sometimes, to prepare, then maybe I say yes. But for this match we don't have an excuse, because we have had enough time to prepare well. We have the players to share (the workload) and find the combinations with fresh players. We can rest some players and have others fresh to give the best performance."
