Arsenal boss Emery and Ramsey upbeat over his recovery

Arsenal boss Unai Emery says he and Aaron Ramsey are upbeat over his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Ramsey was forced off during their Europa League win at Napoli.

But he is targeting the second leg of the Gunners' Europa League semi-final in Valencia on May 9 for his comeback.

Emery confirmed: “I was speaking with Aaron today and he was saying about 'maybe in two or three weeks I can play some matches.'

“His injury is bad news and I don't know for sure how long it will keep him out of the team, but maybe two or three weeks."

And Emery admits it will be a major boost if Ramsey is available to play some part against Valencia as well as Arsenal's final Premier League game of the season at Burnley and perhaps the Europa League final in Baku on May 29.

Emery added: “Aaron's process this season has been amazing.

“In the beginning things were a little confused because it was the last year of his contract with the club.

“And because of his confusion maybe he did not give the performances like he is doing now.

“But in the last matches his performances have been amazing and he has helped us a lot in the key moments of the season.

“So for Arsenal and for me, he is still a very important player."
