Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will sign Brighton defender Ben White as a first-choice.
The Gunners have agreed a £50million deal to sign White from Brighton after their initial £40million an £47million approaches were rejected.
The 23-year-old will undergo a medical when he returns from his holiday in Greece next week as he signs a four-year contract at the Emirates worth £120,000 per week.
The Times reports Arteta sees left-footed Gabriel as the ideal option to play alongside right-footed White, and the Arsenal boss will hope the Brazilian can improve on a mixed debut season in north London.
The 23-year-old started brilliantly after joining from Lille in a £27million transfer last summer, but suffered a drastic loss of form midway through the 2021/20 campaign.
Gabriel made a total of 23 Premier League appearances and was due to represent Brazil at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games this summer before suffering a minor injury and pulling out.
