Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has hinted Matteo Guendouzi was dropped for Sunday's win over Newcastle United due to disciplinary issues.
Many were surprised when Guendouzi was omitted from Arsenal's squad for the clash in North London.
Multiple reports in the UK have claimed the decision came after Arteta and Guendouzi clashed over the latter's attitude during the club's recent mid-season trip to Dubai.
And when quizzed on why Guendouzi was dropped for Dani Ceballos, Arteta told beIN Sports: "The reason is that players who, in my opinion, are training better, behaving better and are more applied to deliver on the pitch, what we want, are the players selected."
France U21 star Guendouzi has made 17 starts in the Premier League this season.
However, that number might not increase after Ceballos' impressive performance against the Magpies.
