Arsenal have stepped up interest in Eibar defender Florent Lejeune.

Marca says the Gunners have “asked about" a move for the 26-year-old.

But Arsene Wenger could face Premier League competition in the hunt for his signature with Tottenham and newly-promoted Newcastle also said to have done the same.

Lejeune left Manchester City after just one year to join Eibar last summer.

There are still three years left to run on his contract in the Basque Country.
