Arsenal have announced Lucas Torreira has suffered a broken ankle.

The Uruguay midfielder was taken off on a stretcher during Monday's FA Cup win at Portsmouth.

He underwent further test at Fratton Park, before leaving post-game on crutches, wearing a protective boot.

Now Arsenal have confirmed that he suffered a fracture to his right ankle and that he is facing a spell on the sidelines.

A club statement declared that they are “awaiting further specialist reviews which will determine recovery plan."
