Arsenal and Juventus fail to agree on length of Arthur Melo loan

Arsenal are haggling with Juventus over the length of Arthur Melo's loan move to North London.

The Brazilian midfielder is a target for Mikel Arteta as he looks to fill holes in his midfield.

Arteta wants to sign Arthur on loan until the end of the season.

However, The Athletic reports that Juve want the 25-year-old to leave for 18 months.

The Bianconeri are also waiting to sign a replacement for the former Barcelona man.

Edu and Juventus counterpart Federico Cherubini were close to agreeing a 18-month loan with a £34million option to buy.

But the Gunners changed their mind and instead want a shorter-term loan.

Speaking recently, Juve boss Max Allegri attempted to pour cold water on the exit talk surrounding Arthur.

"This is our team and we're not going to change anything," said the Italian.

"Arthur's part of the Brazil national team, he's an important player."
