Arsenal academy boss Per Mertesacker has called a meeting today to discuss the club's strategy for appointing a new U18 coach.

Kwame Ampadu left the position earlier this week when he was offered a place on Thierry Henry's backroom staff at Monaco.

Football.london have stated Arsenal are likely to hire from outside the club. But the quality within their academy means they will not rush their decision.

Ken Gillard will take charge of the U18s for the foreseeable future, including Saturday's clash with Reading.
