Barca and Inter are haggling over a deal for the €111m-rated Argentina striker.
Scaloni said, "If Lautaro were to go to Barcelona, I think the coach (Quique Setien) will look for a way to make him a starter.
"Lautaro is already in a great club and I don't know if Barça is bigger than Inter. I can say that great players must have space and we are interested in their continuity, especially for a young man like Lautaro.
"Despite his 22 years, he is already mature and can play for the team as well. He has this great desire that will allow him to become a point of reference for the future.
"Lautaro with (Lionel) Messi? It will be up to the Barça manager to put them together, but for me it is possible."
