Chilean Charles Aranguiz has explained his reason for signing for Bayern Leverkusen over Chelsea and Arsenal.

Former Internacional star Aranguiz, who starred for Chile at the Copa America in June, signed for Leverkusen this week and told reporters of both his excitement at playing in Europe and his reasons for declining a move to the Premier League.

Aranguiz said: "It is important that Chilean players are in the big leagues in Europe. That speaks well about the work that we are doing.

"I picked Leverkusen because they always showed interest in me. No other club talked to me. They were always clear."
