New Anzhi Makhachkala signing Gabriel Obertan has spoken of his time with Manchester United.
Obertan left Newcastle over the summer for Anzhi.
"The scouts of Manchester had followed me since I was fifteen years old. I previously wanted to go to England, but my mother insisted I had to finish my studies. I went to University, but did not remain long. At most six months. It was hard to combine training with study," he told Championat.
Obertan admits he joined United while injured, though enjoyed his time, including comparisons with Thierry Henry.
"I have to admit that it was fun, but you have to be also playing for such comparisons. You have to stay focused, concentrated. After all the compliments I got lost. I was too playful. I only later learned how I can deal better with my emotions on the field.
"Is my playing style like Henry? A little bit. I also once had a picture with him."
