Nicolas Anelka was on the verge of signing with a MLS club in the summer according to one of his representatives. The 32-year old Frenchman has been linked with a Chelsea departure in recent months and the North American domestic league, particularly LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls, are destinations that have been mentioned in the same sentence as Anelka's name.
Even though a proposed deal never eventuated in the summer transfer window, Michael Wiesenfeld, who is part of European Football Group who will represent Anelka if he does go to MLS, has revealed that a future move is still on the cards.
"I can confirm that Nicolas is still possibly interested in pursuing an MLS career," he told Goal.com.
"He got very close to landing a nice contract with a team on the West Coast in August. He also has opportunities elsewhere in the world."
These comments suggest that the former Arsenal, Real Madrid, PSG, Bolton, Liverpool and Manchester City man was close to joining the Galaxy but the Los Angeles outfit have not confirmed nor denied whether a contract for Anelka was ever spoken about.
