Andreas Pereira nets twice as Man Utd down Tottenham U21s

Andreas Pereira was in top form for Manchester United's U21 side as they defeated Tottenham 3-1 on Monday.

The 20-year-old Brazilian midfielder netted a brace as Warren Joyce's side got the better of Ugo Ehiogu's Spurs at Leigh Sports Village in the Barclays U21 Premier League.

The opening goal came in the 13th minute when United's James Weir saw his effort partially thwarted by Tom Glover before Will Keane, who is back from his loan spell at Preston North End, made sure of it on the line. Weir was later credited with the goal.

Pereira made it 2-0 in the 65th minute when his in-swinging corner sailed over the head of Glover and in to the top corner before Spurs pulled one back through Joe Pritchard, who in just his second outing following a year on the sidelines with a broken leg, headed home a cross from winger Andros Townsend in the 77th minute.

But Pereira wrapped it up early in injury-time when he advanced from the halfway mark, evaded the onrushing Glover, and slotted home his second to make it 3-1.

It was another impressive display from Brazil U20 international Pereira who is doing his hopes of pushing for a chance in Louis van Gaal's first team no harm at all.
