Anderson wants new Sunderland chance

Sunderland defender Russell Anderson wants to stay on Wearside.

Anderson told The Journal: "I enjoyed my loan spell with Plymouth. They seemed to want to make the move permanent. But as it stands I'm a Sunderland player and I don't know if they're prepared to let me go.

"I'm planning for pre-season with Sunderland. I'm just hoping for a chance but a lot depends on the players the manager signs.

"I still have another two years on my Sunderland contract so I still have time to make an impression. Who knows what will happen in the future, but I'm reporting back for pre-season training determined to do my best to show the manager I'm ready."
