Anderlecht to keep eye on Sheffield Utd's Carney

Belgian club Anderlecht say they will keep an eye on Sheffield United left-back David Carney. The Australian international trialed with the Brussels-based club for a week and officials were impressed with him.

Currently, Anderlecht do not need a left-sided winger but Jelle van Damme, who fills that role, has been linked with a move away from the club.

If this was to occur, it seems likely Carney would land at the Constant Vanden Stock Stadium.

"The Australian left back David Carney's test period at RSCA was successful," the club's official website stated.

And Anderlecht manager Herman Van Holsbeeck added: "His recruitment, however, will be postponed because we are not in immediate need of a left-back right now.

"But we will keep a close watch on Carney in the future."
