Anderlecht assistant coach Simon Davies has joked about hooking Vincent Kompany during games next season.

Davies has followed Kompany from Manchester City after the former club captain was named Anderlecht player-manager.

The Welshman said, “Our relationship is great. 'Vinnie' will have the final say on the team and the tactics, but I don't expect any major discussions about that anyway. We rarely really disagree.

"There is clarity in our relationship. Whether I can put Kompany on the bench? (laughs) I don't see that happening right away. If he does not feel fit or ready, Vincent is the first to indicate that.

"He is always very modest and honest in that. Sometimes maybe even too honest."
