Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti insists they won't buy for the sake of it this month.

Ancelotti says he is searching far and wide for a midfield target in the transfer window, but admitted getting the right player is so difficult in January.

He said, “Yes, we have an agreement on the players we'd like. The scouts of the club, the work the club is doing to recruit the player is fantastic - they know everything, all the schedule.

“We had a look at a lot of players but we will see if there is an opportunity because the January market is a little strange, as most of the players are not available. What is not true is that we are looking for a goalkeeper!

“We are looking for an opportunity to improve the squad, but at the moment we are not anxious about this. I have to be focused not on the transfer market but on the squad I have and the need to improve."
