Former Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti is in London today for talks with Everton.
The Daily Mail says Marco Silva was sacked as manager on December 5, with Duncan Ferguson taking interim charge of the last two matches, but now the Toffees are close to appointing a permanent successor in the form of Ancelotti.
It will be a huge coup for Everton, with the Italian having only just left Napoli following problems with the club's ownership.
Ancelotti arrived in London on Tuesday morning, and is set to continue negotiations with Everton chiefs in the coming hours.
Owner Farhad Moshiri has taken the opportunity of speaking to the 60-year-old and is excited at the possibility of being able to entice the three times Champions League winner to Goodison Park.
