Ancelotti backs Everton mentality and desire in Europe battle

Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti believes his side will fight to the last day to secure a European spot in the Premier League.

The Toffees have lost momentum after defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Burnley, along with a draw against Crystal Palace.

They do have two games in hand over the teams above them, and Ancelotti knows his side must go on a winning run to secure a Champions League or Europa League spot.

"There are two different situations (in terms of) mentality," said Ancelotti.

"If the players are not used to fighting for something like these players have this year, then you have a great desire to fight.

"On the other side, you have players who have the experience to know how to fight. We have players who have the desire to fight for Europe. Mentally we are good because we have the desire to fight.

"We are in a good position, considering where we were last season — we were closer to the relegation zone than the top.

"Considering that and the fact we haven't got good consistency at home, we are in a good position and we are fighting for the target we had at the start of the season."
