Alvaro Odriozola was delighted to make a winning debut for Real Madrid in victory over Espanyol.

The fullback stepped in to cover for Dani Carvajal - his first start for this new club.

Odriozola said, “It's difficult to put into words what it means to make your debut for Real Madrid, it's the highest you can go, the peak for a footballer. You dream about this moment since you're a kid. I've worked very hard to get where I am and now I'm going to enjoy the demanding nature and give it my all for the team.

“When I took to the pitch I was thinking about what might happen in the game, what I had to do, and imagining that everything went well. I felt very comfortable from the first minute and playing alongside the best in the world makes it all easier. I try to play my game and not get too nervous. I'm very happy, delighted to have made my debut."
