Alvaro Odriozola was pleased to feature for Real Madrid's 1-0 win over Espanyol.

Throughout Saturday night's match, Odriozola offered width and energy in place of Dani Carvajal.

"He is one of the best in the world, he used to be my example and now I learn from him every day," the former Real Sociedad man said.

"The competition is always good."

Rubi's Espanyol were never out of the match, and the defender had to be attentive at all times.

"We have to congratulate Espanyol because they have played very well," he continued.

"This is the best league in the world and they made it very difficult for us."
