Chelsea announced yesterday that the striker will spend another season on loan before completing a permanent switch next summer.
When the striker arrived in January he wore the No.22 for the second half of the 2018/19 campaign, but now he'll wear No.9.
This was the number on the back of Nikola Kalinic's jersey, but the Croatian is close to the exit door and the club have decided to give it to a regular starter.
"Some of the best strikers in the world had this number before, such as [Jose Eulogio] Garate, [Christian] Vieri, [Radamel] Falcao, [David] Villa and, of course, Fernando [Torres]," Morata said.
"It's a matter of great pride and of even greater responsibility."
