Alvaro Fernandez on Man Utd plans and preferred position

Alvaro Fernandez is hoping for a chance with Manchester United next season.

The Spanish youngster has just completed a successful season-long loan with Preston North End.

He told Marca: "Everything has gone very well. I expected a good season, but I didn't expect it like that, really. Let's see what happens next season, but I hope it's the same, or better.

"My goal for next year is to be able to stay there (at United) and if not, we'll see what they do with me. I have to go back to Manchester in pre-season and see what happens."

As for his position, Fernandez added: "This season I've played as a full-back, it was my entire flank. We played with three or five behind, however you want to see it, but I'm a winger. With a line of five I was very comfortable, but sometimes, to defend, when they play with line of four, the winger and the wing-back come to you and it's more difficult. It's been a new experience there."
