Alvaro Fernandez is happy with his decision to join Manchester United.

The Spanish wing-back joined United 18 months ago from Real Madrid.

He told Radio Marca: "My characteristics fit in perfectly. I wanted to come to England to improve my defending. And it is impossible not to progress by scoring every day in training against Cristiano, Mata, Sancho, Rashford ...

"Cristiano teases a lot because of my long hair. The other day I was lucky enough to go with him in the 'game' and he scored from my pass. At 36 years old he is an incredible physical marvel. There is no one like him. He spends the day in the gym. The day he scored against Villarreal in 95 'it seemed like Old Trafford was going down."

He also highlights Juan Mata: "He welcomed me incredibly. He always gives me advice and takes care of me."

Alvaro continued: "I have two great players like Luke Shaw and Alex Telles ahead of me, but I try to keep improving every day. Step by step I am fulfilling dreams and making my debut with Manchester United would be the best."
