Alphonse Areola has rejected Champions League football to join Fulham.

The PSG goalkeeper signed for the Premier League new-boys this week on an initial season-long loan. The deal includes a permanent option.

And Le 10 Sport says Areola resisted the chance of Champions League action this term to move to London.

Rennes, facing the prospect of losing Edouard Mendy to Chelsea, had made contact with Areola about replacing their No1. But Areola turned down the approach, insisting he wanted to test himself in England.

Areola spent last season on-loan with Real Madrid.
