Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Miguel Almiron.

Reports in England had suggested the Magpies had agreed a deal that will surpass their club record signing.

Almiron has also posted a message saying farewell to his teammates at Atlanta United.

It is the highest sale for a player from the MLS.

Alongside a picture of him with the MLS Cup, Almiron says in the message: "Gracias Atlanta por todo el cariño los quiero mucho."

In English, it translates to: "Thank you Atlanta, I love you all."

The player is on a flight to London, before he heads to Newcastle and signs his contract.
