Allen admits Liverpool were lucky in first half at Swansea

Joe Allen believes Liverpool were slightly lucky to come away with a 1-0 win on Monday night.

The Reds narrowly defeated Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium courtesy of Jordan Henderson's 68th-minute goal which was ballooned into the back of the net from Jordi Amat's tackle.

After the match, Allen admitted his former club could have scored in the first half after Simon Mignolet produced some top-quality saves to deny Bafetimbi Gomis and Gylfi Sigurdsson but was thrilled to come away from south Wales with maximum points thanks to a solid second-half performance.

"On the run we've been on our performances have been good for 90 minutes so it was a bit of a shock to the system," Allen told Sky Sports of the subpar first-half showing.

"Thankfully we got in level, maybe it was a bit lucky, but we came back out with a better attitude and worked even harder."
