Sam Allardyce has revealed Crystal Palace have failed in attempts to sign 'about 20 players' during the January transfer window, reports the London Evening Standard.
The Palace boss landed Jeffrey Schlupp from Leicester earlier in the window, but has since struggled to get new signings over the line.
"Until the chairman rings me up and says Carl Jenkinson deal is dead, it's still ongoing for me," said Allardyce.
"The same with Van Aanholt - we're interested."
Allardyce declared Schlupp fit for Saturday's visit of Everton, but conceded he had hoped to have more reinforcements by this stage in the winter transfer window.
He added: "We've got one signing, but missed about 20.
"We missed one yesterday in Jake Livermore. Not much success so far. We were in the race and we didn't win that race."
Asked if Palace were attempting to sign former defender Fonte, Allardyce responded: "We're in the race for many."
