Neil Alexander has left Crystal Palace to sign with Hearts.
The 36-year-old spent just one season at Selhurst Park as back-up to Julian Speroni and played a number of reserve matches.
After leaving the Eagles, Alexander has returned home to Scotland and his new contract as a player-coach will begin next Tuesday.
Alexander told the Hearts official website: "As a boyhood fan, I am delighted to get the chance to join a club I have supported for many years.
"With the coaching side of it as well, this is a fantastic opportunity for me.
"I'll be signing on July 1. I'm excited at the challenge ahead, am raring to go and delighted to be back in Scotland."
