Al Shabab hold on against Jeonbuk Motors

Al Shabab were the second Saudi Arabian team to move into the Asian Champions League semi-finals, joining rivals Al Hilal in the final four.

Despite losing their home leg of the quarter-finals to Korean outfit Jeonbuk Motors 1-0, Al Shabab managed to maintain their lead from the first leg where they won 2-0 in Jeonju.

Ji-Woong Kim's 23rd minute goal sent shockwaves through the Al Shabab camp but they were good enough to hold on and set up a semi-finals showdown with Seongnam Ilhwa, much to the relief of coach Jorge Fossati.

"The game was really hard for us and there was a lot of pressure on our players," said Fossati.

"I'm satisfied with the performance despite the defeat. The good win that we had in Korea Republic helped us a lot to advance to the semi-finals.

"Any team who plays away tries to get a draw or at least a narrow defeat but we did a good job of taking a two goal advantage. Things were really critical tonight."
