Akpom, Debuchy to stay and fight at Arsenal

A pair of Arsenal fringe players will remain with the club and fight for a spot in the first team.

Reports suggest that young striker Chuba Akpom and out-of-favour defender Mathieu Debuchy will not be loaned out today.

Akpom, 20, reportedly wanted a loan move away from the Emirates in a bid to develop his game at senior level but it appears unlikely that will occur.

French right-back Debuchy has fallen behind Hector Bellerin but the loan of Calum Chambers to Middlesbrough has prompted Arsene Wenger to keep him around for depth in defence.
